2 Hair Feathers
Materials
needed: 4
dyed turkey tip plumes 2 T-base plumes 20” suede Lacing A
piece of matching leather, 2” by 2” Two
1-1/2”

ALL directions before beginning. Step
1: Glue two tip feathers together. Then glue these to one base fluff making sure the tops/fronts of the
feathers are all facing the same Step 2: Cut a 5” piece of lacing. Put glue on the feather quill up to the beginning of the feather. Fold the piece of lacing lengthwise on the glue on the base of the feather. The lacing should go the base of the feather veins where they meet the quill. There should be a small loop left on the end of the shaft of the feather. This loop will be used to attach the feathers to the rosette. Pinch lacing together firmly to seal it around the quill. See fig. 1. Repeat with the 2nd group of feathers. Let dry.
Step
3: Cut 2 pieces of leather, each
1” by 1-1/2”. Apply glue to the lacing on the feather from the base of the
feather veins to the end of the quill. Wrap this piece of leather around the
base of the feather lengthwise. This should cover the lacing that is creating
the loop, just leaving the loop exposed.
The sides of the leather should meet in the back of the feather. Trim off
any excess. Repeat this with the other leather piece and feathers. Step 4: Cut the remaining lacing in half. Use one piece for each of the ties and trim the ends to a point for easier threading through the rosette. Lace this lacing through the loop at the end of the feather. Using an awl, punch 2 holes, about ¼” apart, through the center of the beaded rosette. Pull the ends of the tie through the rosette. See Fig. 2 . Repeat
for the other feather group. Your
